1906

Ralph Hyde forms the Hyde Insurance Agency in the town of Campbell, California.

1910

Sidney L. Griffiths forms S. L. Griffiths, Inc.

1939

The Craig Insurance Agency is founded by Dewees Craig.

1945

Augustus A. Schoenheit purchases The Craig Insurance Agency and changes the identity to the Schoenheit Insurance Agency.

1948

Augustus Schoenheit deceased and his daughter Helen Moore kept business going under name Schoenheit & Moore Insurance Agency. The firm is one of the first woman owned insurance agencies in California History.

1950

Mark F. Hopkins founded Mark F. Hopkins & Company.

1951

Robert B. Suhr and Company Insurance Brokers, Inc. is founded in Santa Clara, California.

Stivers Insurance Service, Inc. is founded by Theodore J. Stivers in Campbell, California.

1952

Helen Moore’s husband Robert joins Schoenheit & Moore Insurance Agency and they update the name to Moore & Schoenheit Insurance Agency.

1955

Hyde Insurance Agency is sold to Farley Insurance Agency of Campbell, California.

1957

Moore-Rush Insurance Agency acquires Joseph Fabretti Insurance Agency.

Richard Rush joins Moore & Schoenheit Insurance Agency and the firm becomes Moore-Rush Insurance Agency.

Moore-Rush Insurance Agency acquires Stephen Anastasiu Insurance Services.

Moore-Rush Insurance Agency acquires Fred Sullivan Insurance Agency.

1961

Willis Wood becomes partner and Moore Rush Insurance Agency is renamed Moore-Rush & Wood Insurance Agency.

1962

Moore-Rush & Wood Insurance Agency purchases Connie Smith Insurance Agency.

1966

Moore-Rush & Wood Insurance Agency acquires Chet Bailey Insurance Agency.

1967

Phil Baker purchases Stivers Insurance Service, Inc.

1973

Moore-Rush and Wood Insurance Agency purchases Ralph Wyckoff Insurance Agency.

1975

Robert B. Suhr serves as President of the Independent Brokers and Agents of the West.

1976

Stivers Insurance Service, Inc. acquires George Mulcahey Insurance Agency of San Jose, California.

1977

Moore-Rush & Wood Insurance Agency acquires Francis Cussen Insurance Agency.

1980

Mark F. Hopkins and Company is sold to Alexander & Alexander Insurance Company.

Stivers Insurance Service, Inc. acquires Johnson and Company, Insurance Brokers of Santa Clara, California.

1984

Ed Mathias, an officer of the former Mark F. Hopkins and Company purchases portion of Hopkins book of business from Alexander and Alexander and forms H. E. (Ed) Mathias & Company Insurance Brokers.

1985

Moore-Rush & Wood Insurance Agency acquires Folck White Insurance Agency.

1985

S.L. Griffiths, Inc. becomes Griffiths Insurance Agency

1992

Stivers Insurance Service, Inc. acquires Farley Insurance Agency of Campbell, California.

1994

Robert B. Suhr and Company Insurance Brokers Inc. acquires H. E. (Ed) Mathias and Company of Saratoga, California and changes it’s name to Suhr/Mathias Insurance Services.

1998

Suhr/Mathias Insurance Services acquires Moore-Rush and Wood Insurance Services of Santa Clara, California and Stivers Insurance Service of Campbell, California.

1999

Suhr/Mathias Insurance Services updates its identity to Suhr Risk Services of California Insurance Brokers, Inc.

2001

Suhr Risk Services of California merges with Griffiths Insurance Agency. The combined organization retains the Suhr Risk Services identity.

2009

Suhr Risk Services consolidates three branch offices and opens new corporate headquarters in San Jose, California.
