Suhr Risk Services of California Acquires Two Agencies

SAN JOSE

As part of a strategy to broaden its specialty customer base and strengthen its state-wide presence, Suhr Risk Services of California has acquired both Stivers Insurance Services, Inc. and Moore, Rush & Wood Insurance Brokers.

According to John Suhr, CPCU, President of Suhr Risk Services of California, "Both Stivers Insurance Services and Moore, Rush & Wood are highly regarded for their solid client and carrier relationships. We welcome our association as an outstanding fit with our corporate philopsophy, while expanding our ability to offer fully integrated insurance and financial services."

Stivers Insurance Services, Inc., acquired by Phil Baker in 1966, prospered under his direction until Stivers joined Suhr Risk Services at their San Jose location. Mr. Baker’s 43 years of insurance experience included the acquisition of six local independent insurance agencies and is complemented by his resolve to serve his industry and community. He has been active in both state and local associations and has taught insurance classes to young people. His community commitment is manifested through his past Presidency of the South San Jose Optimist Club, as well as by his previous Presidency of the Kiwanis Club of Campbell.

Moore, Rush & Wood Insurance Brokers, was founded in 1956 and operated in Santa Clara for more than four decades. William Rush, CPCU, CIC, ARM, initiated his insurance career in 1976 and has extensive background in the electronics and manufacturing industries, as well as in the design and implementation of complex risk management programs. Mr. Rush has significant association involvement, including membership on IBA West’s Finance Committee, as well as serving as past President of the Insurance Brokers and Agents of Silicon Valley, formerly known as the Independent Insurance Agents of San Jose.
